FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We want everyone to have the best experience possible at the Fly-In. Every year, staff is asked many questions by our visitors - here's some of the most frequently asked questions we receive to help you have a great time!
WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF THE FLY-IN?
Gates open for everyone at 8AM and close at 5PM.
HOW MUCH IS ADMISSION?
Admission is free but donations are greatly appreciated. We receive no local/state/federal funding and rely on donations like yours to stay open as a public airport!
I WANT TO DONATE BUT DON'T HAVE CASH. IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO DONATE?
Yes! We accept donations via both PayPal and Venmo. Throughout the grounds and in the program you will see QR codes for both donation options. Just scan with your cell phone's camera and it will walk you through the rest!
WHERE DO MY DONATIONS GO?
Simply, to preserve aviation in the region. As we receive no local/state/federal funding, we rely on donations like yours to stay open! Simsbury Airport is a fully volunteer run, 501(c)(3) organization, which means your donation is tax-deductible.Â
If you would like to make a donation of over $100 and would like a tax receipt, please locate an airport staff member (wearing yellow and black "Staff" shirts) BEFORE making your donation.
I HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES. IS THERE A WAY TO EASILY GET TO THE EVENT GROUNDS?
Yes! At all 3 parking areas there is an area designated "For those requiring assistance". Just wait at the sign and one of our courtesy carts will come and bring you to the grounds. The carts are on a 5 - 10 minute cycle between all 3 parking areas, so please be patient.

For your return trip, please wait the main entrance by the port-o-potties for the courtesy cart. Handicap parking is located at Autobon (approach from the 10/202 & Wolcott Rd. intersection to park here)
ARE THERE PUBLIC BATHROOMS?
There are port-o-potties located throughout the grounds. A majority are located by the main entrance with others are located at the North gate and by classic cars. Indoor bathrooms are not accessible to the general public. If you have a special need (breast feeding, etc), please let one of our staff in the yellow "STAFF" shirts know and we will do our best to accommodate.
Port-o-potties for the handicap and ones equipped with child-changing stations** are also located throughout the grounds.

** Every year we request these facilities for our guests but cannot be guaranteed by our vendor due to availability and other factors beyond our or their control. If they are not available, we apologize ahead of time for the inconvenience.
WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT TO THE FOOD TRUCKS AND EXHIBITORS ACCEPT?
This varies from vendor to vendor, food truck to food truck. Some take credit cards, some take only cash, some take wireless payments, and some take all of the above.Â
Those accepting credit cards and wireless payments typically have stickers prominently located at the order window.
IS THERE AN ATM AT THE FLY-IN?
Yes there is! It is located in front of the main building to the near the volunteer and t-shirt tent.
Note: The ATM is provided by a 3rd party vendor. We have no control over any fees that are charged.
ARE THERE AIRPLANE/HELICOPER RIDES AVAILABLE?
YES!
Follow the signs to the South end of the airport property to sign up! For more information on rides available, click here and scroll towards the bottom of the page.
Some things to note:

- Rides are provided by companies not affiliated with Simsbury Airport. All prices for rides are determined solely by the ride operator(s) and are subject to change without notice.

- These rides are VERY popular and fill up VERY quickly. The sooner you get to the event, the better your chances of getting to buy a ride!

- Companies offering rides may not show up to the event for a multitude of reasons including, but not limited to:
Inclement weather at our or their base of operation
Mechanical issues
Illness
Should this happen, it is out of our control and apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment.
WHAT KIND OF VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED AT THE CAR SHOW
We love all kinds of vehicles at our car show! That said, for a more detailed answer, click here.
WHERE ARE THE SEMINARS LOCATED?
Seminars are located in the metal hangars towards the South end of the property. The locations change year to year, so look for the signs on the doors.
I HAVE A POLICE/FIRE/MEDICAL EMERGENCY OR SAW SOMETHING UNSAFE. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
We take safety at the fly-in very seriously. If you see something you know isn't safe (i.e. someone running across the runway, someone letting young children run in front of taxiing aircraft, etc.) notify any airport staff member (yellow and black shirts with "Staff" on the back) and the issue will be handled quickly.

Should you have any kind of emergency or other issue requiring emergency services, we have the right people on the grounds to help you. If you cannot find someone right away, come right up to the volunteer sign-in/souvenir tent at the front of the main building:

Police - officers from Simsbury & E Granby PD and troopers from the Connecticut State Police are on the grounds of the event from start to finish. If you have any issues requiring a police officer, you can usually easily find one on the grounds.

Medical - An ambulance from both E. Granby and Simsbury Ambulance Corps are on the grounds at all times during the event. Their ambulances are located at the main gate and near the end of the taxiway leading to the runway, respectively.

Fire - Simsbury Fire Department is on the grounds near the runway. Should you see anything needing fire department attention, you can find them there.
I LOVE THE FLY-IN EVENT. HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER NEXT YEAR?
We'd love to have you!! Click this link to get more information!
ARE ALCOHOL AND SMOKING ALLOWED DURING THE EVENT?
No. And for 2 good reasons:
- Smoking and highly flammable aviation fuel are not a good mix.
- Alcohol + aircraft and/or motor vehicles are likewise not a good mix, pilot/driver or not.
